Thaumiel is the opposite of Kether which is represents Unification with God. Thaumiel represents Duality or Separation Away From God. Essentially this means that Thaumiel is Individuality and a very honest acknowledgement of the Self which is not weak but rather has the potential to be something strong if Will is properly utilized and directed. There is however a necessity for balance of the two except that Kether isn’t suggesting the actual unification with God as so many people of religion, such as devout church going Christians, as much as the unification with the God/dess within, the Divine Spark if you will.

In The Collected Jewels of Satanism, Nargargole addresses the need of knowing one’s self to experience union with God[1]. For anyone to reach their full potential they must first understand themselves which is never, or at least almost never, something that can be done over night as the Self is like a maze that is firmly grounded but yet fluid. The key is not to try to understand just the one “I” but rather to understand them all, to examine each Self or “I” then study them diligently in the effort to formulate a stronger foundation to build upon. The foundation being your Life internally and externally. The conscious mind is not necessarily the better half of our mind for you should also acknowledge the importance of our Sub-Conscious both of which are linked to the Soul. The Soul being our real Gateway to understanding not only ourselves but also the Whole of Everything or at least to a degree as not everything is meant to be understood by the under developed mind of human kind. Even the most intelligent people in the world are no way close to true Knowledge and Understanding. We are humans but that doesn’t mean we are the most intelligent beings of the Universe etc. For all we know there could be a billion different Universes outside of our own or maybe there is an alien race that has discovered a fifth gender[2]. Pride is only our enemies when it consumes us. The act of not knowing ourselves but knowing God to an extent is like seeing the road that leads to God but we find ourselves unable to walk. We aren’t going to get very far if all we can do is crawl.

Something else that is interesting to pay attention to is the two Demonic Rulers of Thaumiel – Satan and Moloch. The Hebrew title haSatan means The Adversary which gives rise to the modern world’s concept of Satan as being either the Adversary of Man and/or the Adversary of God. This view of Satan was later, if not secretly understood for centuries by secret organizations, understood as meaning the Adversarial Spirit or even the adversarial nature of man. This whole view of Satan has outlined the foundation for most of Satanism which is to say that these forms of Satanism are anti-Semitic and anti-Christian. A fellow magickian and friend of mine once divulged a discovery that he came across while adventuring into to the realm of Satanism (no specific form). His discovery, I am not saying that he is the sole discover of this or anything, was that Satan predates Judaism and also Zoroastrianism because they are believed to have existed around the same time. This would make some sense because most cultures around that time shared an almost universal language which is to say that many of the words for something from different cultures were almost identical. This is a possibility for the existence of an entity/deity named Satan to have existed outside of Jewish/Hebrew culture and religion. The worshippers of this deity may have rubbed the Jews the wrong way making them anti-Satan. The idea that Satan is an entity/deity that predates Judaism could be related to the belief that Satan is actually Enki of the Sumerians.

The other demon ruler of Thaumiel is Moloch which means King in the Semitic language but is also known as a Semitic God that favored child sacrifice and viewed as a demon or rather a heathen god by the Jews even though both of those words existed after Judaism but the concept of demons did exist in Judaism. It is very possible that Moloch was in fact a demon that was either understood as such by worshippers or believed to be a god by them. Demonology obviously has included Moloch as a demon and a powerful one at that but probably only because of His various mentions via Old Testament and others.

You could look at these two terms and see them as titles for the divinity or head demon of Thaumiel which is generally believed to be Satan but could be referring to Lucifer. There is a lot theories and beliefs separating these two entities but they could also be the same entity. Lucifer is often viewed as a King by some Left Hand Path individual and if Lucifer is the same as Satan then there is Adversary and King.

Another interesting view of Thaumiel is that it refers to dual forces competing with each other which could be related to Satan vs. Moloch possibly for the Throne of God if you want to intertwine the Lucifer[3] story into it. This would be contradictory because Thaumiel opposes Kether which can be seen as the Sephiroht where the Throne of God can be located as well God Itself[4]. The concept of Thaumiel being two opposing forces can be understood as the struggle between Satan (or rather The Adversary as a title given to more than one Angel within Judaism much like the title Morning Star) and Yahweh.

Other than the Genesis story which is recounted by Moses God or Yahweh makes His first appearance to the Israelites was in Exodus. It always struck me as odd that God (Yahweh) just seemed to pop up out of no where which has also been addressed by others. Yahweh could very well have been a Canaanite God making Him a Pagan God. Yahweh and Satan both may have been Pagan deities that found their way into Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and Judaism.

I say struggle between Satan and Yahweh because if you keep an open mind when you read numerous stories about Satan/Lucifer and God such as the Jewish story of Job you will notice that Satan wants balance. He is even attributed with bringing death into the world which would explain why Christianity and Gnosticism are anti-death including Jews and possibly Muslims and Zoroastrians. In fact Gnosticism teaches that death should be avoided hence a possible Buddha and Hindu influence – Samsara. Satan understands that Death is necessary to keep things flowing. God in this context relates to a Gnostic concept (this comes from the view I was introduced to and survives with certain individuals whereas others disagree) that God/Yahweh is the Demiurge or a being that believes Himself to be God yet is not. The Demiurge in this context is destructive and not creative (in regards to His name’s sake) or at least not in a positive way.

[2] When we think of Gender we generally only think of two, Male and Female, which are, as far as we know, the basic foundation for gender unless of course you were born without a gender (does that exist yet?) There are two other gender types, well, actually there’s only one more but it has two sub-categories. Hermaphroditism (yes, that’s a real word) in Humans is close to Transexuality which, to me, is not a naturally occurring thing. A Hermaphrodite is someone who is biologically male and female (genetically speaking if not also anatomically speaking) whereas as a Transexual is someone who had plastic surgery to re-model themselves in the opposite sex. This is not to say that I am against transexuals, just that it is not a naturally occurring thing, surgical re-construction that is. Science  might disagree with what I have said already and am about to say when Hermaphroditism is concerned but as far as I am concerned Science is not always honest or accurate. A Hermaphrodite may be a combination of Male and Female but generally only one of those genders is more prominent in some than others.

[3] This is referring to the Christian story that I was told as a child – that Lucifer opposed God, thinking He would be a better God than God was hence the War in Heaven which is not to be mistaken with the War against God and the Heavenly Host of the Book of Revelations. This also ties into Jewish lore as well.

[4] The term God is often used as a universal term for a genderless or dual Divinity.
